Glad you had a good experience with Justin. Hopefully, I'll be mounting my radio towards the end of this week although I thought that several months ago. When it gets done I'll send you some photo links. You are correct in that there is no other option for mounting the radio - to the right of the steering column you have the shifter, hand brake, vent lever and heater.
