Finished wood thickness is 3/4 inch. All boards have a 1/4 in. deep rabeted edge 3/4 in. wide on both sides except the two outboard boards that have only one edge rabeted. Wear irons fit in rabeted areas and just set proud of wood top. If you have replacement wear irons measure height and adjust the rabet depth to fit. There were 6 boards in bed. Spacing boards with enough room to provide clearance for wear iron carrige bolts. Most original beds were yellow pine. White oak being closed cell works real good and takes a nice finish.
