Also, I"m not sure if this is the case for these motors, but if you have a tick at idle or at part throttle, but not under heavy acceleration, look at your rockers. On Olds motors, the rockers wear out pretty easily (about every 90,000 miles) and start ticking. Sounds like lifters.
