I had the good fortune to see that truck run on the salt last year:
http://www.chevyasylum.com/bsf2003/wf/031018/031018-2.html It has an absolutely great soundin motor. I'm hopin the long tube headers and Purple Hornie mufflers on my 292 will help emulate that sound a bit.
The hub caps (moon discs) may not be all that effective as streamining, but they help prevent salt from building up in the wheels and causing balance problems. I'm gonna try running with and without them next year in my 85 Monte Carlo with AFR head 406. It'll be my first time racing on the salt...but ya gotta start somewhere.
