Drive it for a while then check your plugs. if they're carboned up, rejet the carb. As far as swapping chokes, I don't think you can do it. I would run the auto choke. I'm assuming it's one with a heat tube, which runs down to the exhaust manifold.
When you ordered the carb, did you tell them you wanted a manual choke? If so, take it back.
