When I get a clog, I usually try another nozzle before I give up on the can. In this particular case it happened in the midst of a painting operation. This happens all too often with "thick" paints that are only marginally suitable for rattlecans - Eastwood's "Rust Encapsulator", "Chassis Black", "Self-etching Primer", etc.
One time, in a hurry, I struck the stubborn cap of a can on the edge of the workbench to get it off - the cap came off but the action also broke the nozzle off, leaving a little bit of the nozzle still down in the can. I thought about going after the nozzle bit with a pair of tweezers for about two seconds until I visualized what I would look like with a painted face
