Michael, there are a few ways to indentify the gear ratios. One way is described above. If you pull the rear diff cover, on the end of the pinion shaft you will see a series of numbers. The ones you car about will have a hyphen "-" between them which describe the number if pinion and ring gear teeth. These are what determine the ratio. For example, you might see "GM-7-32". This indicates 7 pinion teeth & 32 ring teeth for a ratio of 32/7 or 4.57. It's a good idea to count teeth on each just to be sure. I'm just in the process of finishing my swap-I'm painting the diff cover and looking forward to seeing the difference in the high end speed. The swap is very easy if you have a rolling floor jack to carry the new gears-I didn't even have to jack up the truck. Make sure that your pinion seal is in good shape.
