First the kick-up in the rear is higher than your '54, so getting the bed to sit right could be a problem. Also, I've been told that the front crossmember is different between Chevy and GMC.
I have a '54 Chevy frame sitting almost bare in my yard, and would rather have one that's been subframed. But you are too far from Seattle to make it sound practical to think about a trade...
