You cant always tell if a motor has hyd lifters by the drilled passage. Some engines from '55-62 had the drilled passage and still were fitted with solid lifters.
And I've never heard of sticking pistons above the deck, except on all-out race engines. You're bound to smack a piston into something doing that on an old engine like a 235/261.
