I had one go out in my 82 with diesel and they wanted $1200 to rebuild and put in options to update the unit as the early ones until 87 or so were troublesome. AND that was with me removing from vehicle and just bringing the trans down. Then if I wanted Torque convertor too that was extra! Far as fitting in, "What HE said" above sounds right!
