He gave it to the milkman to use the motor in his milktruck. ( he had had 5 **** motors in it and the 235 was the best thing he had ever done!) I was only a couple of years away from driving and had my eye on it so I was disappointed. Years later, My freind and I were driving around and saw a 61 longbed for sale in Mass. The lady's husband had died years before and she had kept it for sentimental reasons. She wanted $100.00. We talked her down to $25.00. Friend and his Dad and I go back with a tow rope and haul it 30 miles down 495 to Mansfield and we get it almost home and his old man let the clutch out a couple of times to get the oil going again and loosen it up. Put an old battery in it and it fired up after 20 seconds and ran like a top. Kept it the friends' house and when I go to get it he wants $300.00! We're talking again after 20 years. I'm close to getting my "new" '61 4x4 driveable. It's been a long road! ( I know, it's only an ugly '61, but it's a lot more than a piece o' metal.) | | |
