Markw, the Tornado never flew. It was dropped before they got that far. It was built in sections. A few 14 cyl engines were built first. Then several 42 cyl versions were built and tested. It had the capability to go to 70 cyls. It had great throttle response and must have been a sweet runner, when everything worked right. Personally I doubt it would have ever made a good engine. Too many parts, the pumping losses had to be horrible, getting the right mixture through all that plumbing to all the cylinders. It had to be a nightmare to work on. But it is an interesting engine. It was kind of like 7 l6 engines sharing a common crank. Mike
