when you accelerate, is the ringing constant, or does it ring for a few second and then quiet down? Did you check to see if your tranny is tightly bolted to the bell-housing? Try rocking the transmission back and fourth. Or, the transmission may be worn out. have you made sure there is plenty of oil in the tranny?

I had simular problems with my muncie. The bolts had worked loose, and when I tightened them up, it seemed to quiet down. to check if its a muncie, the gear pattern is reverse is left and down, first is straight up, second straight down, third straight up, and fourth straight down. heres a diagram
