I live in the Northwest and grew up in a logging town. The 'crummy' is just what you said, the beat up rig that hauled the loggers in and out of the woods. I remember there seemed to be a competition on how beat up and full of garbage you could get one of these vehicles. Usually a Suburban or Crewcab truck that would start its day at the local tavern parking lot picking up a crew and would end its day at the same tavern parking lot for a few hours, or more.
