If you are interested in installing the correct light switch like the original one, than it will mount on the master cylinder as InMy40s states. Your master cylinder looks like the one in his picture, that he has posted for you, and it screws into the 1/8" pipe thread hole where the small brass plug appears at the back of the master cylinder on the left side (as it is mounted). That is the correct way and the way it came from the factory. You run a hot wire to one side of the switch and from the other terminal, you run a wire to the brake light. When you step on the brake, the pressure increases inside the master cylinder, to stop the vehicle, and the pressure also activates the switch. This called a brake pressure switch and it is still available from most neighborhood auto supply stores. It was used on all of the cars and trucks up ito the 40's, some into the 50's.
Again, it is a 1/8" pipe thread brake pressure switch.
