Just my own opinion here, I'd find an 8 lug rear to put back into it, perhaps a later 14 bolt from a '73-'87. Better chance of getting a 3.73 or 4.10 gear that way. You might be able to swap out the spindles, the upper balljoint can be changed to the 1/2 ton part for sure. I'm not to certain about the lower. The book shows a different part #, might be a larger part than 1/2 ton. You might have to swap to a 1/2 ton lower control arm to do the conversion. Either way, you're going to have to get matching rims.
