The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop 1948 Chevy 4400 with a 270ci GMC Motor?

Was it common for 1948 Chevy to use GMC motors in their Heavy Duty series?

I am finding it difficult to locate resources who really know the differences between the 3000 and 4000/6000 Series. Was/is the 270 a good motor? What about the tranny? Does the 4400 use same body panels, doors, fender, hood, bumper, etc. This is not a COE but a HD flatbed.
