If the swapping the sides of the vacuum hoses doesn't change the high range problem, the clutch plate teeth and sliding gear teeth are worn off and kicking it back out of gear. If someone has driven it a lot and not shifted the 2 speed without letting it grind into gear, that problem happens. That sun tach on the dash, is a dead giveaway to the previous driver.
