I had the used 454 I bought completely rebuilt with a Crane truck cam and 781 casting# heads. Purchased some sanderson big block headers (suposed to work with the stock steering)EDL performer intake manifold and 750 carb. B&M 2000 stall converter for the th400 trans.I found a 12 bolt chevelle rear end with 275 gears that should fit. My problem is that I want to run some 15x8 chevy rally wheels on the rear and will need to lift the truck for tire clearance. I have searched the internet and have not found anyone who sells a lift kit (blocks & U-bolts) to fit the early 2" leaf springs. Does anyone know where to get a lift kit for Classic Trucks? Or should I just make some blocks and have some square u-bolts made, I need about 4" of lift. Also I plan to convert to power drum brakes and noticed that the brackets from CPP and total cost engineering look different. Anyone have any bad experiences with either brand. Would really appreciate some advise for engine mounting location from anyone who has put a big block in one of these trucks. Thanks, Bill | | |
