I had this same problem with tranny gasket. Guy that helped me replace gasket used an air drive to tighten down the tranny pan. 1 month later had tranny fluid leaking. I replaced the gasket and this time used a little gasket sealer,and tightened by hand. No problems after that. The old cork gasket I removed had actually been split in two from over-tightening.
