Not sure if I am in the right forum for this? But I have been following chipheads saga, as my 235 needs to be rebuilt. I have a 283 that out of a 64 impala that's begging for a home. I currently have a 3 speed OD in the truck and plan on keeping it. I am going to pick up the stock V-8 bell housing for my 57 this weekend. My question is, the 283 mounts the starter on the motor, the stock bell housing mounts it on the bell housing, so which starter will I have to use? Will the stock bellhousing starter clear the ear that's on this 283 where the starter bolts on that motor? Thanks for all your help you guys are great.
