I agree with Stuart,
I hooked our 18' dual axle flat trailer, about 3,000 lb to my 52 1 ton. I had my disk brakes then, so no problem there, but the go part was a problem. The trailer was empty and I could hardly get to 4th gear on level ground with my 235 and 4.56 gears. Your 1/2 ton will wimp out even sooner with it's faster gears, and if you have an originalish engine and a 3 speed I wish you luck with anything over about 1500 lb for any distance.
