If you loosen the nuts on the shift rods at the box on the colum and shift the transmissio manually you shold be able to find out if its lincage or tranny by driveing in each gear,stopand block wheels,shift into next gear by hand,ect...I suffered a simalar fate for some time.Mine was a bent shift rod.
