Actually, it isn't that heavy - probably less than 150 lbs. I'd strap a 2x6 to it with metal straps. Then box the end with a 2x4 frame and a piece of plywood over the end to protect the gear. It would be tough to hurt this short of dropping it off the truck at highway speeds
