Does anybody remember the curved-double boxed end wrench available in auto parts store back in the 40's? They were called a chevy "starter" wrench, made specifically to reach the hard-to-get back starter bolt.
My dad had one and I inherited it. Kept it for many years until one of my tool boxes was stolen from my garage.
I also remember that, at least in this part of the country, many auto parts stores would not sell to an individual. The idea was to force the individual to take his or her car to a shop to get it repaired. At one time I remember having an arrangement with my cousin who ran a gas station. He allowed me to buy parts and charge them to his station..then I paid him for the parts.
