I had a similar problem with a bearing race loose in the hub. I "peened" the race seat with a punch and a 2 lb hammer. You may be able to snug that race by putting several peens in the seat. When you indent the metal, it pushes some of the metal out to the side, efectively taking up some of the clearence. THIS MAY ONLY BE A TEMPORARY FIX! I never had a problem with my race after doing just this.
I am sure somebody will jump in and correct me if I am telling you to do something dangerous. Hub failures could have serious consequences. This procedure may keep you on the road long enough to find a good hub.
