Your story made me a little sick. "Act of God?" God wouldn't treat your truck like that.
Being as this is the first visor I've ever touched with my own hands, it didn't dawn on me to just take it off until you and others suggested it. Especially since it sounds like I can mount it exactly how it needs to be and then take off a couple of nuts, remove the visor but leave the brackets in place.
It sounds like it should make the trip fine, but it is sometimes better to be safe than sorry. So maybe I'll just wrap it in a blanket and put it in the cab.
