Nice find with the truck. I think you'll find you would be quite happy with the six. It would get you around fine, and honestly it is part of the joy of the older truck. As a camaro guy, ya I wish they were designed to go a little faster, but I can squeeze about 50 out of my 49 3100 and it is pure fun.
Good luck with it. Figure, or imagine what you really love about the truck and how it looks in your mind when finished, then work backwards toward that goal.
