On my 49 I have a metal bar which goes across from door to door. There is a channel on the front and rear of this bar. On other, I think later trucks, there is a floating bar which holds the two pieces of the headliner up in the center. I feel strongly that your cab would have the floating bar.
FYI putting in that cardboard headliner can be very frustrating. i have had my cardboard headliner for years and its still not in the truck.
