10 months ago I was asked by the owner of a self storage facility if I was interested in buying an old truck that was in a unit that the renter had not paid on for about a year and was being claimed by the facility owner as restitution for the unpaid rental. I said I would take a look at it. The "old truck" is a '59 Apache 3100 with 235 & 4-speed. It is totally rust free (the guy had it stored since 1987) and I believe it was a body off resto at some point in the past. Anyway it took me about 3 seconds to write a check for the back rental (the price the storage facility owner said he would sell the truck for). The check....$900.00 !! Yes, 9 HUNDRED. And I agreed to take over the unit rental so the truck would be under cover and safe till the DMV lien sale process could run its course. Well, finally, after 10 months and a total investment on my part of $2110.00, the lien sale was held and I was the only person who came to bid on the truck !!! I now have all the DMV lien sale papers and I am going Friday to the DMV to get the title and registration in my name. It has been a long time coming and as such I am anxious to get it done but still hoping nothing comes up to stall me further. Knocking on wood....
