Lots of work on Brad's part ... pure enjoyment (and references) for you!

For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | Jeff has answered your wife's question with a link to what Sovebolt means on this site. Purely for the purposes of this website, we define a "Stovebolt" as any pre-'73 GM truck (covers anything made by Chevy, GMC, Republic, Little, Oldsmobile or Samson -- did I forget any obscure Billy Durant marques?) Classic Parts provides a time-line of 1947 and newer Chevrolet trucks. There used to be a similar time-line of GMC trucks but the website has disappeared: http://www.imbris.net/%7Econrad/gmc-history.html Here is a history of Chevrolet trucks (a picture of the 1929 Stove Bolt Six is on the homepage).
