Do things look happy with the valvecover off?
No bent or missing push rods?
All valves move up and down while cranking?
All valves have clerance at some point in the rotation of the engine? if not then the compression should be off.
No excessive clerance, like 1/8"? I set mine to 0.008" and 0.015" intake and exhaust with a hot engine.
