Okay. I have to bring this back to light as I was silly enough to fall for this scam. I am almost complete with my 235 engine rebuild and all I need to finish it is a new water pump. What a better way to get one than with old cores that are taking up space in my garage.
I shipped out a solenoid starter, water pump and a newly rebuilt Rochester carb, all off of my 235. According to their flyer, I'd have about $105 in store credit. I paid about $45 in shipping but I'm still ahead, right?!
About 3 days ago, I got a call from Chevs saying "I don't know what this carb came off but it wasn't a Chevy. So, we can't give you credit for that. Want us to ship it back? We can take it out of the $20 we're giving you for the water pump." I just got the same call today about my starter today.
I told them to toss the starter in the garbage along with my $10 Store credit as I'm sure as hell not spending it with them after just spending $55 on shipping for nothing.
I guess I'm still young enough to learn that you never get something for nothing. And you'd better read the fine print. Those parts have to be very specific (and they don't tell you exactly what they're looking for on them) or they won't give you anything for them.
Lesson learned. I guess that water pump will have to wait a while longer.
