So, like a well drafted plan, big shot (the wife) and I drove up to the Black Hills in sodak Friday night. Saturday my brother and I put the new tires and wheels on 'old green' (my dad's old 1954 Chevy 3600 pickup), put some grease in the tranny, greased the u-joints and on Sunday I drove her home! Ran GREAT! (But only about 50 mph). Got 14 MPG. Didn't expect (or enjoy) the front and rear seals on the engine to give out, but they did and so she likes to weep a little now, but I'm thinking I'll be able to fix that. Old Green had sat for 11 years so I suppose the seals got hard... Or, are those rope seals? Anybody know? 400 mile trip and I learned alot in those miles...! I'll get pics and send them, but I'm just glad I got the old truck brought back to life just in time for DOVE HUNTING SEASON out here in Kolorado! You know it TAKES a 3/4 ton truck to haul those doves once you limit out...
