I just checked out a truck that I might be interested in but I'm not sure what sort of value it has.
It's a 70 cab and bed mounted on a 4x4 blazer frame (don't know the year). The engine (350) has been rebuilt (don't know how many miles ago), it's got a 4-speed and has a new clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing - I assume they were installed when the engine was rebuilt. It does need the carb rebuilt from what the guy said. It looks like it's been used off road quite a bit from the amount of mud that's caked on it and the number of dings and dents that I could see. I'm thinking of using it for, basically, a daily driver and to haul tools and stuff for work on my 49 as well as some landscaping duties.
I didn't go into further detail with the guy cuz the asking price seemed high ($2000) for what I saw. The problem I have is that I drive by it on a regular basis and it keeps calling to me as I go by (says something about needing a good home!). I guess it can tell a bolter when it sees one.
I need some input from cooler heads. I know it's worth whatever someone will pay but I don't know if it's folly to go after something like this or just leave it be. In your considered opinion, what would be reasonable for something like this and should I try to talk the guy down and, more importantly, try to sell it to my wife as a wise investment?
