One little correction to JiMerit's '53 prefix list. LAE/LAR are for the regular car 235 with PS. The 235 w/PG and PS had the prefix LAS. It seems all '53 PG engines came from the Tonawanda plant.
There were other LA* prefixes:
LAG/LAT = 216 used in sedan deliveries;
LAJ/LAV = 216 w/HD clutch used in sedan deliveries.
