Have the same problem with my 52 3/4 ton. The problem with the 261, with the short shaft pump was the fan blade wouldn't clear then engine damper. Then when you move the fan forward with a spacer, to clear the damper,it hit the radiator.
Its been a real FUN exercise!!! I've decided to move the radiator forward in the core support for extra clearance. YES!,its a lot of work. The easy fix is to go with the front mounted pusher, either new aftermarket or junk yard dog. The electrics don't run constantly, only on temperature demand. Some kits will actually work off the temperature gauge sender so you don't have to mess around with where you're going to put the sensor/switch.
