I've also always thought the bowtie was red and background was black on the 56. And that color scheme goes along with the side fender emblems which had a black background.

Could it be that the same part was used on the initial 57 but they changed the colors just on account of?? Sort of like putting the fender emblem on the 55 below the crease then putting it above it for the 55.5 & 56.
