We looked at this chrome problem. The shop all want about three time what the repo parts cost. The trouble is that alot of this new chromed stuff is junk. I've seen part that rusted with in a yr after they were installed. One guy told me he got a new part in a box with some rust on it, before it was even installed. I think the market is full of stuff that is shoddy, and some of the companies are taking advantage of the growing number of guys restoring trucks, by cashing in. If it wasnt for the mess and the chemicals involved, I had thought about doing some of my stuff in house. I have also been looking at just cleaning up the parts and having them power coated.
