I think the 700-4R is the greatest trany out there. I had one in a 63 with 454 & it worked great. Idled down the road 1800 rpm at 70 mph. I,ve got one in my 70 stepside with 350. It goes into o-drive & the converter locks up you can,t hear the engine running.
