Hey Jim59, check the master cylinder and see if you have fluid bypassing the cups. If you do the rear of the master cylinder will be wet right at the point where the plunger meets the master cylinder.

Also be sure the bore size of the new master is the same or larger than the bore size of the wheel cylinders. If not the wheel cylinders will be robbed of fluid before they can expand enough to make proper contact.
