Had to replace the ignition cylinder on my 52. PO had jammed a big cadillac key in the slot and just left it there. I pulled the whole switch out and then pondered a good long time on how to remove the cylinder. I saw the key slot and a tiny hole. Not having done this before I consulted the manual but no help and didn't find any words of wisdom here so I thought I would share. With the switch removed, I secured it in my bench vice. Find yourself a big paperclip. Put the key in the slot and turn to the right like your starting you truck. Insert paperclip into the little hole and gently push down. You'll feel a little resistance as there is a spring inside. Now turn the key about a quarter turn further to the right and gently pull towards you. The cylinder slides right out. Now when you put in the new cylinder, put the key in first. Angle the key to the 2 o'clock position and insert it back into the housing. Rotate the switch to the left and presto it's in place.

p.s. remember to mark the wires to the switch before you remove them so you know where they go later. :rolleyes:
