The S-10 T-5(not on the tree) doesn't care what motor is out front, just as long as you have a Chevy bellhousing. You need to read all the tips re this trans on this site, you may have to shorten the input shaft and front bearing retainer. 700r4 should bolt up to your V8 and 230/250/292 six, but not the old 235 six, but there are adaptors for just about everything.
