my dads tahoe has the 5.3 and my neighbots truck has a 5.3 they are both great motors. they feel a little lacking in low end grunt to me compared to the vortec 350 that they replaced. much better fuel economy, crisper throttle response, tons more high end power. i would say go for it, if it is what you want then buy it. that motor is a good one and i would gladly drive a truck with it. good luck on the new addition.
