I probably not help with the torque ball install but maybe with the T5. Are you talking about the opening with the transfer case removed? If you do use the T5 with the transfer case removed you would have no opportunity to use a speedometer. The 4x4 tailhousing does not have a place to install a speedo cable, it is on the transfer case. On the 2wd the tailhousing does include the speedometer connection.

There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it can not be overcome by brute force and ignorance.
