First off, I'm new to everything about engines and trucks so I'll be asking some pretty fundamental questions from time to time.

I have a 1950 1/2 ton with the original 216. (yes, I verified that it is original) Everywhere I go on the internet, I see "replace that tired ol 216". Well maybe someday I will. But for now, I think I'd like to have some fun with what I've got. With that in mind, what modifications, if any, can be made to the 216 to increase performance. I understand a rear-end ring and pinion set will get me up to highway speeds without any added strain to the engine or tranny. What else can I do?
