The way most people hook up a hand throttle is to use a short length of chain between the end of the throttle cable and the throttle linkage on the carb. The chain has to be long enough to allow the throttle to close when the knob is pushed in. Pull the knob out, and the chain tightens up, opening the throttle, but if you push down on the accelerator it gives slack in the chain. Clear as mud?
