Joker,

Both my 216 and 235 start pretty quickly, even after sitting for several days.

Routine I use is: Pump pedal a couple of times, pull choke slightly (if it's been a week or more) turn key on, and depress starter pedal.

216 usually fires within 2-3 cranks. 235 will fire up within same number of cranks if it's been run in the last few days.

However, if it's been sitting for a week or more, or it's real cold, it may take 15-20 cranks before she pops. Could be that I could use a new battery though.

The 250, well that's a whole nother ball of wax. It usually has to crank several times before it pops at all.

Just curious... "I am going to let it sit for a couple of mornings before starting to see if the new plugs help." Can you really let that beautiful truck sit?
