The V8 guys are pulling out 235's right and left. I think the going price for one to rebuild is $1oo-$150 and they are cheap to rebuild. By 1962 the horsepower was up to around 110 or 115. Use a 58 or newer engine if possible since 57's still had shims with the main bearing caps and in 58 they went to a machine fit like all modern engines. This would definitely be easier and would keep your 38 stuff pretty much unmolested. The 235/261 are tough old engines and if you could go the 3.55 rear (Patricks) or 3.38 (Chevy Duty) you coud cruise with freeway traffic.
