Well, guys I have been all over this motor but under it to find that casted block number? Tell me do you have to pull the starter to get at it?? There is nothing between the starter and the fuel pump as inliners says nor is there anything forward of the fuel pump (on the block) if it were a 54 261??? I am miffed? I have the pair of captains bars on the left hand side, it even has the external flow thru filter.. does that mean anything???? Your help is most appreciate.
As a side there are what appears to be a combo of letter and numbers directly beside the starter casted in the block.. two combinations of letters and numbers.. hard to ascertain but looks like GON or CON then there is an H233 or H265.. any of this make any sense??? Without that starter removed is real hard to tell. Also, what color green is the 261 block?? I mean this engine paint looks original but this is by no means a drab green...
